Join us at Takapuna Methodist Church on Sunday, 17th March, for our Zero-Waste Education Programme, Oranga Taiao. This event, deeply embedded in te ao Māori, extends beyond simple waste reduction to promoting a balanced and sustainable lifestyle.
Embrace Zero Waste: As our planet faces critical environmental challenges, adopting a zero-waste lifestyle is more vital than ever. Oranga Taiao, infused with te ao Māori principles, will guide you in deepening your connection with the earth and sky.
Event Schedule
Opening Worship (10:00 am – 10:15 am): Reconnect your spiritual and ethical values with nature.
Educational Sessions (10:15 am – 10:45 am): A Rocha Aotearoa New Zealand Regional Coordinator Rebecca Webb on Ecochurch. Programme Training Specialist Paul Murray on the kaupapa of Pare Kore and waste hierarchy.
Closing Worship
Interactive Activity (11:00 am – 11:30 am): Engaging and educational experience.
Lunch Break (11:30 am – 12:15 pm): Time to relax and network.
Waste Wānanga (12:30 pm – 2:00 pm): A crucial session on understanding the natural origins of materials like glass, plastic, steel, aluminium, and paper/cardboard. Learn about renewable versus non-renewable resources, and the importance of making informed choices for sustainable living.
Limited Time? Don’t miss the Waste Wānanga 12.30 pm – 2.00 pm for practical sustainability insights.
Community members who are interested in how to reduce in their households and the wider community are welcome to join us from 12:30 pm.
